Movies by the Lake
Thursday, July 13, is the second Movie by the Lake for the 2017 season. This movie is a 1993 American coming-of-age baseball film which tells the story of a group of young baseball players during the summer of 1962. Together the boys go on a series of funny and touching adventures. This movie is sponsored by Wakefield Rotary Club and members will lead a fun and informal baseball (Whiffle) game for all ages starting at 6:00 p.m. between the bandstand and the lake. Movie-goers can bring their own picnic supplies (no alcohol allowed).
WCAT is excited to be part of a triple header for the evening – the community baseball game at 6:00 p.m., the Middlesex Band Concert at 7:00 p.m. and the movie at nightfall!
The movie is projected on a big screen by the Lake Quannapowitt bandstand starting at “nightfall”. When’s this? When it’s dark enough to show the movie, approximately 8:30 p.m.
Movie-goers are urged to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry. The rain date for this movie is July 20. If it rains both days, this movie will be held over until 2018.
Wakefield Community Access Television is an independent not-for-profit organization. The media center does not receive any tax-based dollars from the Town of Wakefield and returns over $3.1 million in services to the community per year.
