The Wakefield Historical Commission was established by an act of the Town Meeting and is a five-member board appointed by the Town Council. The Commission’s responsibility is to work to preserve, protect, and develop Wakefield’s historical and architectural heritage in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 40, Section 8D. This video honors the life and career of Wakefield's own John Rogers Galvin. A decorated war veteran and man of great honor, Galvin lived a life full of rich experiences, strong leadership, and humble demeanor. Upon the reopening of the Galvin Middle School in 2014, this video was presented as a way of honoring his achievements.
