School Committee, Wakefield Co-operative Bank anniversary, and a return of in-studio

WAKEFIELD — Earlier today, at noon, local author Joy Nelkin Wieder joined The Room to Write’s Founder Collen Getty for another in a series of “The Journey of a Story.” Getty says, “Joy is a two-year holdover from spring 2020. She wrote “The Passover Mouse” just in time for Passover in 2020… but we all know how that turned out.

Tonight at 6, WCAT’s Board of Directors holds their monthly meeting. Agenda items include the report of the treasurer, an update on the high school building project, discussion of FEMA and ARPA funding opportunities, Movies by the Lake, an update on the meeting with the Cable Advisory Committee, show updates, and working with the Massachusetts Partnerships for Youth.

Tuesday night at 7:30 a.m., the School Committee will hold a hybrid meeting with members in the studio.

Wednesday at 6 p.m., WCAT will host Rosey Mongeau and Avery who will record another episode of their podcast

“Really Important Fictional Things.”

Thursday at 2:30 p.m., the Beebe Library’s “Book Buzz” crew returns to the studio to discuss what’s being read and recommendations. From 5-7 p.m., WCAT staff will be filming the Wakefield Co-operative Bank’s 135th Anniversary Celebration at the bank’s headquarters on Main Street.

“Movies by the Lake”

WCAT is excited to announce that they will be bringing back the popular “Movies by the Lake” series for the seventh year. Residents can help pick the 2022 movies with an online survey on Facebook. You can pick up to three of the movies listed that you’d like to watch on the Lower Common this summer.

Expenses for each movie night run about $2500 and are paid for by sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring one or more movies, please contact WCAT board member Brian Fox at foxbrian1017@yahoo.com.

To those visiting WCAT: individuals may still choose to wear a mask while in the studio based on their personal circumstances but they are not required to do so.
