Town Council, School Committee, and WEF celebration this week on WCAT

WAKEFIELD — Tonight at 6:30, WCAT has been asked by Wakefield’s Commission on Disabilities to film a panel discussion at the Galvin Middle School following the screening of filmmaker Dan Habib’s “Intelligent Lives”. At 7 p.m., the Town Council will meet in a hybrid session with members in the studio.

Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., the School Committee will meet in a hybrid setting with members in the studio.

On Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., WCAT will be at the Galvin Middle School to film the Wakefield Educational Foundation’s ceremony.

On Thursday at 6 p.m., WCAT will host Rosey Mongeau and Avery who will record another episode of their podcast “Really Important Fictional Things.”

On Friday at 9 a.m., WCAT Board member and volunteer Tom Stapleton will be filming the ribbon cutting at the Public Safety Building.

During the month of April, WCAT will be working with another non-profit to film a series of nine educational videos. These will be filmed on different days at various times – as early as 8 a.m. and as late at 1 p.m.

Planning for town meeting

WCAT continues to prepare for the upcoming May town meeting. The team has been busy creating graphics, testing equipment, and coordinating with town officials. You’ll be able to watch town meeting on WCAT’s government channels (Comcast 22, Verizon 42, RCN 13, and RCN HD 614) and streaming live on our Facebook page and on our website’s video-on-demand. There will be captioning for the hearing impaired available.

“Movies by the Lake”

WCAT is bringing back “Movies by the Lake” for the seventh year. Residents can help pick the 2022 movies with an online survey on Facebook.

Expenses for each movie night run about $2500 and are paid for by sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring one or more movies, please contact WCAT board member Brian Fox at foxbrian1017@yahoo.com. To those visiting WCAT: individuals may still choose to wear a mask while in the studio based on their personal circumstances, but they are not required to do so.
