School Committee, a tour, podcast and more this week at WCAT

WAKEFIELD — Earlier today, WCAT met with The Scholarship Foundation of Wakefield to provide assistance in their preparation for integrating Zoom into their board meetings.

Tour with Girl Scouts

Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., the studio will host a tour with a troop of up to 16 Brownie Girl Scouts. After the tour they’ll gather in the conference room for snacks and to watch videos of other Girl Scout troop productions. At 7:30 p.m., the School Committee will meet in a hybrid setting with members in the studio.

Podcasts, Public Safety

On Wednesday at 9 a.m., Board Member and volunteer Tom Stapleton will be filming at the Public Safety Building regarding the upcoming construction/renovation plans. At 6 p.m., WCAT will host Rosey Mongeau and Avery who will record another episode of their podcast “Really Important Fictional Things.”

Master Plan Online Meeting

Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., WCAT will facilitate the Master Plan review with Erin Kokinda. This first public workshop will take place virtually. In this interactive session, participants will discuss two of the eight Master Plan topics: Land Use and Zoning (growth, enhancement, and preservation areas) and Open Space and Recreation (parks, squares, and leisure). This event will be followed by a three-week community survey for expanded input. Learn more about the master plan and objectives and register at www.wakefield.ma.us/master-plan.

During the month of April, WCAT will be working with another non-profit to film a series of nine educational videos. These will be filmed on different days at various times – as early as 8 a.m. and as late at 1 p.m.

Planning for town meeting

WCAT continues to prepare for the upcoming May town meeting. The team has been busy creating graphics, testing equipment, and coordinating with town officials. You’ll be able to watch town meeting on WCAT’s government channels (Comcast 22, Verizon 42, RCN 13, and RCN HD 614) and streaming live on our Facebook page and on our website’s video-on-demand.

“Movies by the Lake”

WCAT is bringing back “Movies by the Lake” for the seventh year. Residents can help pick the 2022 movies with an online survey on Facebook.

Expenses for each movie night run about $2500 and are paid for by sponsors. If you are interested in sponsoring one or more movies, please contact WCAT board member Brian Fox at foxbrian1017@yahoo.com. To those visiting WCAT: individuals may still choose to wear a mask while in the studio based on their personal circumstances, but they are not required to do so.
