Town Council, School Committee, and town council candidate interviews this week at WCAT

Monday

Tonight at 7, the Town Council will hold a hybrid meeting with members in the studio.

 

Tuesday

At 7 p.m., the School Committee will hold a hybrid meeting with members in the studio.

Wednesday

At 3:30 p.m., the First Baptist Church will hold another session of “In the Middle.”

 

 

Thursday

At 2:30, the Beebe Library’s “Book Buzz” crew returns to the studio with new reading recommendations.

 

Friday

Beginning at 4 p.m., Anthony Guardia will interview the three candidates, individually, who are running for two seats on the Town Council. The candidates are Douglas Butler, John Carney, and Allyson Houghton. The interviews will be aired at a later date.

Programming

“The Item Minute”

WCAT, collaborating with the Wakefield Daily Item, continues their twice-weekly segment,
“The Item Minute.” This series is hosted by Wakefield Memorial High School intern Cavan Hill and will run across social media platforms in short vertical formats such as Reels and YouTube Shorts. Full horizontal versions will also air on the channel.

 

Movies by the Lake

They’re baaacckkk…almost! WCAT will bring back the popular “Movies by the Lake” for the ninth year. Currently folks are selecting up to three movies from a list of 12 for the 2024 season. Movies by the Lake are hosted by WCAT on the Lower Common and supported by area sponsors. Vote via Facebook or e-mail info@wcat.tv for the link. One vote per e-mail address. The deadline for voting is March 29.

Each week, WCAT airs religious services of several local churches on the Public Channels (Verizon-40, Comcast-9, or RCN-3). New WCAT member Emmanuel Episcopal Church will join this group by airing four services each week: Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (prior week’s services), Wednesday at 8 p.m., Friday at 4 p.m., and Saturday at 5 p.m.

 

Public Service Announcements (“PSAs”)

WCAT, working with the town, has begun producing PSAs/News segments related to important town events and happenings to further inform residents of valuable information. Recent PSAs have covered a request for help with the 4th of July Parade and information on the 2024 Census Forms. These segments are broadcast as well as uploaded to YouTube and posted to Facebook.
