WakeUp, WAAV, and ‘The Superintendent’s Update’ this week at WCAT

Monday

Tonight at 6, WCAT’s Board of Directors will hold their monthly hybrid meeting with most members in the conference room.

Tuesday

The Wakefield Unified Prevention Coalition (WakeUp) will meet in the conference room for their monthly meeting at 9 a.m.

At 10 a.m., The Saving Bank’s “TSB Money Matters” with host Ally Houghton be in the podcast studio for back-to-back programs. The first program recorded will discuss commercial services with guests Michael Rossetti, VP Cash Management Officer and Ed Fitzgerald, VP Commercial Banking Officer. The second recorded program will discuss commercial lending. Fitzgerald will also be on this show joined by Scott Myers, VP Commercial Banking Officer. One show will be posted the week of March 25, the other will be available the week of April 1.

At 7 p.m., WCAT will film the Galvin Middle School’s concert.

THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY ceremony was held on March 7 in The Savings Bank Theatre. Panelists included Julie Smith Galvin, Jess Sutich, Roseanne Trionfi-Mazzuchelli, Arianne Kidder, Amy Apfelbaum, Afraa Boukataya, and Yarlennys Villaman-Hale. (WCAT Screenshot).

Wednesday

In the morning at 8:30, Wakefield Alliance Against Violence (WAAV) will meet in the studio. These meetings are not televised.

At 3:30 p.m., the First Baptist Church will hold another session of “In the Middle.”

At 6:30 p.m., the School Committee will hold a virtual public hearing to discuss their proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year.

 

Thursday

In the afternoon at 1, new WCAT member Leah Hancock has scheduled her first podcast.

At 3:30 p.m., Steve Maio joins host David Watts, Jr. for the monthly “Town Administrator’s Report.”

 

Friday

In the afternoon at 1, “The Superintendent’s Update” with host Anthony Guardia and his guests Dr. Douglas Lyons, Superintendent of Wakefield Public Schools and Kara Mauro, Assistant Superintendent will return to the podcast studio.

At 3:30 p.m., WCAT member the Friends of Lake Quannapowitt will film an informational piece in the studio.

 

Programming

 

“The Item Minute”

WCAT is collaborating with the Wakefield Daily Item to bring their twice-weekly segment,
“The Item Minute,” to video. This series is hosted by Wakefield Memorial High School intern Cavan Hill and will run across social media platforms in short vertical formats such as Reels and YouTube Shorts. Full horizontal versions will also air on the channel.

Each week, WCAT airs religious services of several local churches on the Public Channels (Verizon-40, Comcast-9, or RCN-3). New WCAT member Emmanuel Episcopal Church will join this group by airing four services each week: Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (prior week’s services), Wednesday at 8 p.m., Friday at 4 p.m., and Saturday at 5 p.m.

 

Public Service Announcements (“PSAs”)

WCAT, working with the town, has begun producing PSAs/News segments related to important town events and happenings to further inform residents of valuable information. Recent PSAs have covered a request for help with the 4th of July Parade and information on the 2024 Census Forms. These segments are broadcast as well as uploaded to YouTube and posted to Facebook.
