Staff, volunteers, and board members will bid adieu to WCAT Executive Director Ryan Boyd on Wednesday. After graduating from Elon University with a B.A. in Cinema, Boyd spent time serving as a production assistant in California and later as an Associate Producer and Video Specialist in Washington, D.C.

Ryan joined WCAT in 2013 as the senior producer and editor and in December 2018 he was named Executive Director following the retirement of Tom Stapleton. Among a litany of accomplishments, Boyd steered WCAT through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while expanding meeting coverage and setting a high bar for other local cable access stations in the process.

Ryan will be taking a position closer to his home in New Hampshire and will start on September 29. His technical talents, fondness for Wakefield, his willingness to accommodate almost any request for coverage, and his calm demeanor will be missed by everyone who worked with him.
