A new podcast, the Town Administrator’s report, basketball, and another WMHS building forum this week at WCAT

Monday

At 10 a.m., WCAT was on hand to film the Martin Luther King and Coretta Scott King Day ceremony at the Galvin Middle School beginning at 10 a.m. This year is the 60th anniversary of Dr. King’s “I have a dream” speech. The Wakefield Human Rights Commission presented service awards to recognize Wakefield youth, residents, town employees, businesses, and community groups who have made significant and tangible contributions in promoting the civil and human rights of all people.

Tonight, WCAT’s Board of Directors will hold their monthly meeting via Zoom.

Tuesday

The Wakefield Unified Prevention Coalition (WakeUp) will hold a meeting in the WCAT conference room.  From 3 to 5:15 p.m., The NE Voices podcast, created by the NE Voices Podcast Club at Northeast Metro Tech will speak with Ms. Toomey, the Social Emotional Counselor at Northeast, who’ll be talking about “Nor’e” the in-training emotional support animal. At 6 p.m., WCAT crew and volunteers, including WMHS commentator junior Tymothy Brown will livestream the boys’ varsity basketball team game against Winchester.

Wednesday

Morning, the Wakefield Alliance Against Violence (WAAV) will hold a meeting in the studio. At 3 p.m., David Watts, Jr. holds his monthly “Town Administrator’s” discussion with Steve Maio. In the evening, the Lakeside Cemetery Association will hold a meeting in the conference room.

Thursday

At noon, Laura Williamson of Bare Fitness will record another show. These workout sessions with Williamson provide wellness advice and instruction on a variety of challenging workouts that all ages can participate in. At 5 p.m., “Really Important Fictional Things” with hosts Rosey Mongeau and Avery returns to the podcast studio. Thursday evening, WAAV will hold another meeting in the conference room with youth participants.

Friday

At 5:30 p.m., crew and volunteers along with senior Matt O’Conner on the mic will livestream the girls’ varsity basketball game against Burlington. At 7 p.m., junior Tymothy Brown will take over the commentator’s seat during the livestream production of boys’ varsity basketball match, also against Burlington.

Saturday

WCAT will facilitate Building Forum #12 about the proposed new Wakefield Memorial High School. This session will begin at 10 a.m. in the WMHS cafeteria and will be followed by a school tour.

Religious programing

During each week, WCAT airs the religious services of several local churches on the Public Channels (Verizon-40 or Comcast/RCN-3).
