Candidates’ forums, School Committee, and the return of ‘The Total Woman’ this week at WCAT

Monday

Tonight, WCAT will present a Candidate Forum so voters will have an opportunity to hear from those running for both the School Committee and Town Council in the election to be held on Tuesday, April 25.

Beginning at 6 p.m., all three candidates for two positions on the School Committee have been invited. They are incumbent Kevin Piskadlo and new candidates Peter Davis and Alexandra Langes Makarawicz.

Then, at 7:15 p.m., all three candidates for two positions on the Town Council have been invited.  They are incumbents Mehreen Butt and Ed Dombroski and new candidate Chris Carino.

Wakefield Town Moderator Bill Carroll will moderate the forums. Carroll will be joined by former Town Councilor Ann McGonigle Santos and the Wakefield Daily Item’s Bob Burgess and Mark Sardella who will each do a single forum session.  There will be no live audience.

The forums will be shown live on WCAT’s Facebook page, WCAT’s Government and Public channels, and WCAT’s website. The forums will also be rebroadcast throughout the weeks leading up to the election on WCAT’s YouTube channel.

Tuesday

The Friends of Lake Quannapowitt (FOLQ) will hold a meeting in the WCAT conference room.  At 4:30 p.m., “Really Important Fictional Things” with hosts Rosey Mongeau and Avery record a rescheduled podcast. At 7:30 p.m., the School Committee will hold a hybrid meeting with members in the studio.

Wednesday

At 7 p.m., the Youth Council will hold a hybrid meeting in WCAT’s conference room. Some members will be in the room and some will be joining via Zoom

Thursday

At 5 p.m., Cheryl Webb Scott’s program “The Total Woman” will be filmed in the studio. WCAT staff will travel to the Galvin Middle School at 6 p.m. to tape Aladdin Jr.

Friday

At noon, “Really Important Fictional Things” returns with hosts Rosey Mongeau and Avery for the regularly scheduled podcast.
