‘In the Middle’ starts up and ‘The Total Woman’ returns this week at WCAT

Wednesday

The Wakefield Creativity Lab, a program of the First Baptist Church in Wakefield, and WCAT have teamed up to offer “In the Middle,” a media learning opportunity for middle school students in Wakefield who’d like to be on TV or take steps to be an influencer. This is the first session.

“In the Middle” provides students with an opportunity to create their own unique show. During the four episodes, each student will design and lead one segment during the series (and have a supporting role in some others) which may include:

  • Teaching a skill or game
  • Interviewing an interesting person
  • Showing off a collection
  • Performing a short play or skit
  • Telling jokes and riddles

This is an opportunity for the students to unleash their creativity.

Students will have a chance to learn about presenting, filming, actors, lights, sound, and maybe even the green screen!

Other sessions will be held on Wednesdays from February 6 to March 27 (snow dates April 3 and April 10). There will be no session on February 21 due to school vacation.

“In the Middle” sessions are held after school from 3:30-5:30 p.m. in WCAT’s studio at 24 Hemlock Road (behind the high school).

Participants include children in grades 5-8 who live or attend school in Wakefield.

From 3:45-4:45, “The “Feel Good Group” will reconvene in the Conference Room. This group was formed by Barbara Worley and Tom Stapleton. The group was created as an informal time to visit with others about matters of a wide range (no politics or polarizin
