Master Plan workshop, Town Council, School Committee, and more on tap at WCAT

WAKEFIELD, June 27th, 2022

— Last Friday, the WCAT staff bid adieu to Amy Couture, Video Production Specialist. While a senior at Endicott College, Couture interned at WCAT from September to December 2020. She became a full-time employee upon graduation in June 2021. While at WCAT, she worked on a variety of productions held both in-studio and remotely. Couture earned her bachelor of arts degree in Digital Media with a filmmaking concentration. She leaves to take a position at WGBH.

Earlier today, Lila Gardella and Angel Amy were in WCAT’s podcast studio to record another segment of “Spill The Ginger Tea.” Tonight at 7, the Town Council will hold a hybrid meeting with members in the studio.

Tuesday, WCAT staff will facilitate a webinar offered by the Wakefield Human Rights Commission. At 7:30 p.m., the School Committee will hold a hybrid meeting with members in the studio.

Wednesday at 1 p.m., The Savings Bank will film another installment of “TSB Means Business” to discuss elder financial abuse. Joining Ally Houghton, WCAT board president and Marketing Officer at TSB, will be Cheryl Cannon, TSB’s training officer whose background includes elder/scam protection, and Larry Poirier of Mystic Valley Elder Services.

Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., WCAT will facilitate the second public workshop for Wakefield’s Master Plan project. This virtual session will review two of the eight Master Plan topics: Historic and Cultural Resources and Housing. The community can register at mapc.ma/forum2-wmp2033.

Thursday, Rosey Mongeau and Avery will be back in the podcast studio to record another program of “Really Important Fictional Things.”

Also on Thursday, the Beebe Library’s “Book Buzz” crew will be back in the studio at 2:30 p.m. to talk about their selections for “beach reads.”

“Movies by the Lake”

WCAT’s “Movies by the Lake” returns for its seventh year. Movie dates are July 14, 21, and 28, and August 4 with a rain date of August 11. At these movies you’ll be charmed, and you can sing, too. You’ll find out who to call in the afterlife and, if it’s your day off, you can twist and shout.
