This week at WCAT: Town Council, building forum, Sweetser Lecture, tours, football, and volleyball

Tuesday afternoon

From 3 – 3:30 a group of Junior Girl Scouts (grades 4 and 5) will meet in the conference room for a tour of the facility and will then discuss food insecurity and supporting the Wakefield Food Pantry.

Tuesday night

At 7, session eight of the Wakefield Memorial High School building forum will be held in the studio. This is a hybrid meeting so participants can also attend via Zoom.

Wednesday

Students from Northeast Metro Tech in the Newspaper Club will have a tour of the studio on Wednesday from 2:45-3:15 p.m. They have a special interest in the podcast studio. Later Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., the Town Council will hold a hybrid meeting with members in the studio.

Wednesday evening

At 7:30, WCAT volunteer Bob Burke will be in The Savings Bank Theatre filming the Sweetser Lecture Series. The first speaker in the series will be bestselling author Stephen Puleo who will present “Voyage of Mercy: America’s Effort to Save the Irish during the Great Famine.”

Thursday

“Really Important Fictional Things” with Rosey Mongeau and Avery will return to the podcast studio at 4 p.m. At 6:30 p.m., the crew and WMHS commentator Matt O’Connor will cover the girls’ volleyball contest against Burlington in the field house. This game will be livestreamed.

Also on Thursday, volunteers from Wakefield Alliance Against Violence (WAAV) will be in the conference room stuffing runners’ bags for the Road Race on October 1.

Friday

At 6 p.m., the crew, including WMHS student commentators Tymothy Brown and Drew Schermerhorn, will return to Landrigan Field to film the Warriors’ football game against Stoneham. The football game will not be livestreamed. At 6:30 p.m., crew members including WMHS student commentator Matt O’Connor will be back in the field house to cover the girls’ volleyball game against Swampscott. The volleyball contest will be live streamed.
