Town Council, School Committee, and ‘Superintendent’s Update’ podcast this week at WCAT

Monday

Tonight at 6:30, WCAT and Commentator Tymothy Brown will cover the girls’ varsity basketball game against the Doherty Memorial High School Highlanders. The game will be livestreamed and uploaded to WCAT’s YouTube channel following the game.

At 7 p.m., the Town Council will hold a hybrid meeting with members in the studio.

 

Tuesday

At 5:30 p.m., Commentator Tymothy Brown and WCAT will film the varsity girls’ basketball game against Wilmington and at 7 p.m., they will film the varsity boys’ basketball game, also against Wilmington. Both games will be livestreamed and uploaded to WCAT’s YouTube channel after the games. This is “senior night” for both Wakefield teams.

At 7 p.m., the School Committee will hold a hybrid meeting with members in the studio.

 

Wednesday

At 3:30 p.m., The Wakefield Creativity Lab, a program of the First Baptist Church in Wakefield, and WCAT will record another session of “In the Middle,” a media learning opportunity for middle school students in Wakefield who’d like to be on TV or take steps to be an influencer.  “In the Middle” provides students with an opportunity to create their own unique show.

 

Thursday

At 6 p.m., WCAT and Commentator Tymothy Brown will film the varsity boys’ basketball game against Brookline. The game will be livestreamed and uploaded to WCAT’s YouTube channel following the game.

 

Friday

At 1 p.m., host Anthony Guardia will be joined by Wakefield Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Doug Lyons and Assistant Superintendent Kara Mauro to record another installment of the “Superintendent’s Update” in the podcast studio.

 

Programming

Each week, WCAT airs religious services of several local churches on the Public Channels (Verizon-40, Comcast-9, or RCN-3). New WCAT member Emmanuel Episcopal Church will join this group by airing four services each week: Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (prior week’s services), Wednesday at 8 p.m., Friday at 4 p.m., and Saturday at 5 p.m.

Public Service Announcements (“PSAs”)

WCAT, working with the town, has begun producing PSAs/News segments related to important town events and happenings to further inform residents of important information. Recent PSAs have covered a request for help with the 4th of July Parade, a congratulatory message to Wakefield native Commander Shelby Nikitin, and information on the 2024 Census Forms. These segments are broadcast as well as uploaded to YouTube and posted to Facebook.
