Town Council, School Committee, ‘Book Buzz’ and more this week at WCAT

Monday

Tonight at 7, the Town Council will hold a hybrid meeting with members in the studio.

Tuesday

At 6 p.m., WCAT along with commentator Tym Brown, will film the varsity girls’ basketball contest against Lexington. The game will be livestreamed and uploaded to WCAT’s YouTube channel following the game.

At 7 p.m., the School Committee will hold a hybrid meeting with members in the studio.

 

Wednesday

At 6, WCAT crew and WMHS Commentator Tymothy Brown will travel to the Stoneham Arena to film and livestream the varsity boys’ hockey contest against Winchester. This will be followed, at 8 p.m., with coverage of the girls’ varsity game versus Winchester. Following the games both will be uploaded to WCAT’s YouTube channel as soon as possible.

At 7 p.m., the WCAT Working Group will hold a hybrid meeting from the conference room with most members expected to be there in person.

 

Thursday

At 2:30, the Beebe Library’s “Book Buzz” crew will be back in the studio to discuss their current recommendations.

At 6:30 p.m., WCAT will film an information session on the Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department’s solar program in the Trustees Room at the Beebe Library.

 

Friday

At 11:30 a.m., Colleen Getty, Founder of The Room to Write, will chat with Wakefield Daily Item reporter and author Gail Lowe for another installment of “Journey of a Story.”

Programming

Each week, WCAT airs religious services of several local churches on the Public Channels (Verizon-40, Comcast-9, or RCN-3). New WCAT member Emmanuel Episcopal Church will join this group by airing four services each week: Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (prior week’s services), Wednesday at 8 p.m., Friday at 4 p.m., and Saturday at 5 p.m.

 

Public Service Announcements (“PSAs”)

WCAT, working with the town, has begun producing PSAs/News segments related to important town events and happenings to further inform residents of important information. Recent PSAs have covered a request for help with the 4th of July Parade, a congratulatory message to Wakefield native Commander Shelby Nikitin, information on the 2024 Census Forms, and the curbside collection of Christmas trees. These segments are broadcast as well as uploaded to YouTube and posted to Facebook.
