Town Council, School Committee, ‘Family Album,’ basketball, and hockey this week at WCAT

Monday

Tonight at 7, the Town Council will conduct its first 2024 meeting in a hybrid setting with members in the studio.

Tuesday

 

At 6 p.m., WCAT along with commentator Tym Brown, will film the varsity girls’ basketball contest against Winchester. The game will not be livestreamed but will be uploaded to WCAT’s YouTube channel immediately following the game.

At 7 p.m., the School Committee will hold its first meeting of 2024 in hybrid form with members in the studio.

 

Wednesday

In the morning, the Youth Council will hold a hybrid meeting from the conference room with some members on Zoom.

At 1 p.m., Gail Lowe returns to the studio with her show “Family Album.” The program began six years ago but was on hiatus due to the pandemic. Her guests for this installment will be Suzanne Bowering of Holiday Travel and Amy Luckiewicz and her mother Sue Luckiewicz to talk about traveling with family and groups.

SIX YEARS AGO, Gail Lowe interviewed Ann and Sal Orifice in an episode of “Family Album. Sal and Ann discussed their story, Wakefield Bowladrome, and what it takes to stay in business for over 60 years.

At 6 p.m., WCAT and Commentator Tym Brown will head to the Stoneham Arena to film the girls’ hockey team match against Stoneham. This will be followed by coverage of the boys’ contest at 8 p.m. also against Stoneham. The games will be livestreamed and uploaded to WCAT’s YouTube channel.

 

Friday

At 1 p.m., “The Superintendent’s Update” with host Anthony Guardia and Wakefield Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Doug Lyons returns to the podcast studio.

 

Programming

Each week, WCAT airs religious services of several local churches on the Public Channels (Verizon-40, Comcast-9, or RCN-3). New WCAT member Emmanuel Episcopal Church will join this group by airing four services each week: Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (prior week’s services), Wednesday at 8 p.m., Friday at 4 p.m., and Saturday at 5 p.m.

 

Public Service Announcements (“PSAs”)

WCAT, working with the town, has begun producing PSAs/News segments related to important town events and happenings to further inform residents of important information. Recent PSAs have covered information on the 2024 Census Forms, the curbside collection of Christmas trees, current street detours in place, and commuter rail track work. These segments are broadcast as well as uploaded to YouTube and posted to Facebook.
