Town Council, School Committee, ‘The Item Minute’ and ‘Book Buzz’ this week at WCAT

Monday

At 5, the Friends of Lake Quannapowitt (FOLQ) Water Quality Committee will meet in WCAT’s conference room.

At 7 p.m., the Town Council will hold a hybrid meeting with councilors in the studio.

LAST WEEK, the Boys and Girls Club, Wakefield campus, celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Tuesday

The Wakefield Unified Prevention Coalition (WakeUp) will hold a meeting in the conference room.

At 7 p.m., the School Committee will hold a hybrid with members in the studio. Prior to meeting with the School Committee, Wakefield Municipal Gas and Light Department essay contest winner honorees will meet in the conference room for photographs.

Also at 7 p.m., WCAT will facilitate a Zoom meeting with abutters to the new high school for the second time.

 

Wednesday

In the morning the Wakefield Alliance Against Violence (WAAV) will hold a meeting in the studio. These meetings are not televised.

At 3:30 p.m., the First Baptist Church will hold another session of “In the Middle.”

Thursday

At 2 p.m., Howard Hart, Founder of the Opera Club of Wakefield, and his guest Benton Hess, opera conductor and voice coach, will be in the podcast studio for another installment of “Speaking Opera.”

At 2:30 p.m., the Beebe Library’s “Book Buzz” crew will be back in the studio to present their monthly reading recommendations.

“The Item Minute”

WCAT is collaborating with the Wakefield Daily Item to bring their twice-weekly segment,
“The Item Minute,” to video. This series is hosted by Wakefield Memorial High School intern Cavan Hill and will premiere across social media platforms in short vertical formats such as Reels and YouTube Shorts. Full horizontal versions will also air on the channel.

Each week, WCAT airs religious services of several local churches on the Public Channels (Verizon-40, Comcast-9, or RCN-3). New WCAT member Emmanuel Episcopal Church will join this group by airing four services each week: Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (prior week’s services), Wednesday at 8 p.m., Friday at 4 p.m., and Saturday at 5 p.m.

Public Service Announcements (“PSAs”)

WCAT, working with the town, has begun producing PSAs/News segments related to important town events and happenings to further inform residents of valuable information. Recent PSAs have covered a request for help with the 4th of July Parade and information on the 2024 Census Forms. These segments are broadcast as well as uploaded to YouTube and posted to Facebook.
